About
Iwakura Japanese Gardens provides design, installation, and ongoing maintenance of custom Japanese-style gardens. Japanese gardens combine rich symbolism and an aesthetic of minimalism to create beautiful and contemplative spaces that represent the natural world. No matter the size or scope of a project, we combine professional skill with an unwavering attention to detail, and always with a commitment to omotenashi (the utmost consideration of the client’s needs).
Walter Reins is the founder and gardener at Iwakura Japanese Gardens and has been a green industry professional for more than two decades, with experience spanning the nursery, landscape, and tree care professions. He is directly involved in all aspects of work at Iwakura Japanese Gardens, from the initial consultation through to ongoing maintenance. His life-long interest in Japanese gardens led to an opportunity to live and work as a gardener in Japan at a 3 acre private garden. That life-changing opportunity along with visits and self-study at over 100 gardens throughout Japan became the inspiration for Iwakura Japanese Gardens. It is his hope to re-create and share with his clients the beauty, inspiration, and peace he discovered in each of those gardens while living abroad.
